Comprehensive Health Testing

We prioritize the well-being of our cats and kittens, ensuring they undergo comprehensive health testing before breeding and  adoption. Our goal is to ensure that every kitten we produce is healthy, robust, and free from hereditary diseases common to the Maine Coon breed.

  • Comprehensive Veterinary Exams: All breeding cats and kittens undergo thorough veterinary examinations to assess overall health, including physical condition and dental health.

  • Routine Blood Work: All breeding cats undergo regular blood panels to help monitor their internal health and detect any underlying issues early.

  • Parasite Screening: We conduct regular group fecal tests and other screenings on both cats and kittens to ensure they are free from internal and external parasites.

  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM): We test all breeding cats for the genetic markers associated with HCM, a common heart condition in Maine Coons, to prevent passing this condition to offspring.  More importantly, we screen for HCM with echocardiograms, a key non-invasive imaging tool used to screen for HCM by assessing the thickness and function of the heart muscle to detect characteristic abnormalities

  • Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA): a genetic condition causing progressive muscle weakness and unsteady gait starting around 3 to 4 months of age.  Genetic testing for SMA is performed to identify carriers and avoid breeding two carriers together.

  • Pyruvate kinase deficiency (PKD) :  a hereditary enzyme disorder that affects red blood cell metabolism, leading to anemia and related health complications if left unmanaged.  Genetic testing is performed in all breeding cats.

Early neurological Stimulation

Our family is passionate about the breed and dedicated to providing the best care for our kittens.

We incorporate early neurological stimulation with our kittens, a series of gentle exercises designed to enhance their resilience, adaptability, and overall development. This proven method helps them grow into confident, well‑adjusted companions ready to thrive in their new homes

Historical Uses

Historically, Maine Coons served as indispensable farm and ship cats, valued for their exceptional ability to control rodent populations. Their intelligence, strength, and agility made them ideal companions for early settlers and sailors. By the late 19th century, Maine Coons had gained popularity in cat shows, with one named "Cosey" winning Best Cat at the first major U.S. cat show in 1895.
